COVID-19 is dangerous to people and even more so to the world economy!
Damaged economic processes might be even more threatening for people or would rather society than the virus itself by losing business, markets, capitals, and even economic spheres: production, tourism and so much more.
All of the things happening in the world as the result of COVID-19 reaction will force to revisit and in many cases change the business processes, at least where it is possible.
Thus many companies initially started working fully remotely, but the share of these companies worldwide is not significant. And even this phenomenon is less than 2 decades old! But the reality of the remote employment can change in the shortest terms and virus is just another example of it.
Will the vector of traditional office companies shift to the remote formate?
Most likely, yes! Probably not radically and more in a form of backup plan in case of viral outbreaks or other risky situations in the world but somehow it has become a necessity already here and now!
Software Engineering companies were the pioneers and popularized the format of remote projects’ management and control.
And this has made it possible for many of today's professionals to find a convenient career path. But the remote format for professionals accustomed to an office where the whole environment reminds why they are required to do their job, can be a great test and stress for employees and reformatting in new conditions will not always be successful!
The internal structures of companies are also a problem of adaptation to new conditions: processes of interaction between teams, control, communication, equipment, etc.
In Software Engineering companies, fortunately, reformatting and setting up all processes to remote interaction is quite easy, and as a bonus, it can be turned into an opportunity to expand the search for candidates to almost the whole world.
Coronavirus is becoming a kind of trigger for the remote business format and certainly, the technical capabilities of the modern world will contribute to this. #covid19 #remotework #challenge
